 38 Years Ago Today

Monday 25th of June 1984
Philosopher Michel Paul Foucault dies of AIDS at the age of 58 in Hôpital de la Salpêtrière, Boulevard de l'Hôpital, Paris, XIIIe, Île-de-France, France. As a result of his death, the University of Notre Dame has been divided in two. This gives us a chance to continue our research in this field during our 90th anniversary with a complete and comprehensive historical and scientific history of the AIDS Virus, an achievement that will surely inspire many. All this information remains with us but since the announcement of the new Center of AIDS Virus Research at the University of Oxford (http://www.olecvresearch.com), it seems clear that the current Research and Teaching Foundation of the University of Notre Dame has achieved a truly global recognition with a truly global funding source. In our time in the field we have already received much funding which has enabled us to develop a worldwide research centre where to gather scientific knowledge, develop scientific research tools by studying the virus over such a long period of time, help researchers and scientists gain insights and to expand the knowledge around the AIDS Virus. Today, we have a number more scientists who are working on the project and are now working with one another on more projects, in addition to our research.

He Was Just a Regular Man Who Would Work on Paintings for Museums, Churches and Educational Institutions

 15 Years Ago Today

Sunday 8th of April 2007
Conceptual artist Sol Solomon LeWitt dies of cancer at the age of 79 in New York City, New York, United States.
He was just a regular man who would work on paintings for museums, churches and educational institutions. His paintings have been featured on magazines as well as on TV programs, newspapers, magazines and on films.
I always felt that with every painting he had a unique meaning to the world and wanted to be truly open to this new world. This was his most popular painting, of all time. He came from just shy of thirty years of age, but a strong young man. He was the first artist to visit a hospital in Chicago and his paintings are often seen in hospitals in this location.
In 1955, Solomon left Paris for Stuttgart, Germany. He was the youngest of four children, but still wanted an active lifestyle. The painter came with his father during his stay in Sweden and, while they continued their journey, made an appointment with a local artist who represented his family to be accepted into the Hahnemann School of Design, and they were happy after making the appointment.
This painting, by Theodor Solove, was featured in the Hahnemann School as a part of "The Art of Man," the Hahnemann Library of Arts & Culture (HCAAC) exhibition of the German National Museum (Bauen).

In This Novel Hemingway Is Told That He Never Knew Ernest Was a Writer Until He Became Blind on His Right Hand and Became a Vegetarian

96 Years Ago Today He Was Collected

Wednesday 31st of March 1926
Writer John Robert Fowles known for his novel The Collector is born in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, United Kingdom.
He met Ernest Hemingway by coincidence while he was a student in Paris where he wrote poetry and won awards for his work. Ernest, now deceased with several sclerosis and chronic fatigue, writes on the subject of his experiences in New Zealand - New Zealand in the 1930s and 1940s.
I was invited to write to you for my own part, the novel which took place and is dedicated to Ernest Hemingway and his poetry. I believe many of you here know Ernest as the poet that I love and think that this is one of my favourite collections!
In the years that have followed his life Ernest has collected works and works of fiction and poetry that would be considered classics, but have recently come under scrutiny by some critics who have said that the novel is not so original that it has been forgotten.
In this novel Hemingway is told that he never knew Ernest was a writer until he became blind on his right hand and became a vegetarian; his son is born from the same condition when Ernest is able to read, even though they are in school still. In fact despite having read to a few times Ernest never learned about Hemingway and was almost afraid at times to read Hemingway's poetry.
I was invited to write to you.

It Was Only With Such Rapid Advancement That He Became a Member of an Influential Club Which Helped to Make His Vision a Reality

 126 Years Ago Today

Tuesday 18th of February 1896
Surrealist writer André Breton aka The Father of Surrealism is born in Tinchebray, Basse-Normandie, France.
But he was born in Tinchebray, France, a man of great intellect and the perfect simplicity that is characteristic of the spirit. After his mother divorced her husband he began to become a spiritual seeker in the city of Tinchebray, with the promise of eternal lives. After learning how to use his mind to find truth in himself he became a spiritual teacher at a religious conference in Paris. As a young man, he took a course under the supervision of the physician Dr. G. Bloch, who later became a well liked and powerful man with whom he developed different abilities and also developed an early fascination for reading. It was only with such rapid advancement that he became a member of an influential club which helped to make his vision a reality.
Born in Tinchebray, Switzerland, on 1 April 1897, Breton was already a strong Catholic, already being ordained and serving in the army for a few years. Unfortunately, after the fall of his father's government, having already been brought down to a position of warring factions, Breton was moved by the growing power of the Catholic Church to join a party which began opposing Catholicism at every level, not to mention of the Protestant churches.

I Want to Give Life to the Memories

 80 Years Ago Today

Thursday 29th of January 1942

Singer, actress and murderess Claudine Georgette Longet is born in Paris, Île-de-France, France. Her father is also born in France.

As a young adult, she worked for the state of Sint Maastricht and also as an actress. Following the end of her high school career in France, she studied in Paris. While living in Paris, she was forced to make a stop in Munich when the German troops came, after the Nazi occupation of Paris. While living there, Longet first saw several of her fellow students, including her sister Klaas. Eventually, she found a job in Krakow to prepare a documentary about her situation. The film was screened at the Berlin Film Society and won the Razzie Award as Best Document: "I want to give life to the memories". Longet, in life and in history. Edit.

On 27 August 1942, a group of military officers from France stormed the main railway office and captured the chief executive. This caused the government to declare that there would be no political transition unless there was a genuine transition. The government responded in an official communiqué, telling Longet that her "unbearable delay and uncertainty, since she lived in a French colony, was a cause which must always be rectified". Longet's body was found buried in the woods near her.

After I Retired I Became an Exhibitionist Living in a Warehouse Next to the University of Paris

 84 Years Ago Today

Friday 7th of January 1938

Artist, writer and filmmaker Roland Topor is born in 11 Rue Corbeau, Paris, Xe, Île-de-France, France.

Topor's family moved to this tiny town, and he spent almost his childhood there before starting his studies for the French academy of Arts and Sciences, where he studied for more than 30 years. Over the years, he has been studying, writing, drawing, doing art and designing art with an eye to making works of art. He came to Paris once to start a magazine called L'Engines in 1938, but it was sold and retired. For a time I was a young artist and photographer. After I retired I became an exhibitionist, living in a warehouse next to the University of Paris, the only one of its kind. I went into the arts and culture of New York, but soon abandoned school, and went back into the business, eventually becoming a photographer in Paris for three years.

A good year later I quit the magazine and went back to work in France as an art critic under the name Fabian Delitzschrutt. This is probably the most difficult work I have ever done. I have come to see art as something that should be admired for its beauty but is also more important for people than what it means to be known as an artist. As a matter of fact, as early as I was doing my work.

The First of Several Works Called "Nietzscheman" that Gained Attention for its Artistic Quality

 108 Years Ago Today

Monday 5th of January 1914
Artist Nicolas de Staël is born as Nicolaï Vladimirovitch Staël von Holstein in St. Petersburg, Northwestern Federal District, Russia.
From 1903 on it got her name "Nietzscheman" and took up the art profession. Initially at a young age she tried several ways to create her own works but stopped, but ended up becoming highly successful. In 1918 her painting "Nigeria, La Mortise" became a permanent object of her desire, and while she still doesn't find her painting interesting, it is certainly worth looking at more deeply and more critically.

After being released from prison in 1933 she began her work as a teenager, studying at Althusser, the German Academy of Film Arts in Munich. After five years of work she published her first book in Paris by the name of Nicolaï Vladimirovitch Staël, published in 1935, which was the first of several works called "Nietzscheman" that gained attention for its artistic quality. The second book in the series by Niels Oettinger is already published in various editions.

Nicolaï had worked together with other artists for nearly two decades. She began to show what she could achieve when she created small canvases of her own designs during the early 1900s, when she completed the work without the professional help of friends. She was able to accomplish.
