In 2010 he also wrote an article for the New York Times website about the history of New Artists. In 2012 while on an assignment with the LA Press Play for the National Theatre Company he was working on the opening of the Warner Bros. Records Factory located at the LA Theatre's Theater of the Arts. He left his job in 2003, with the production company being acquired by MGM after he lost control of the studio. In 2010 he started working on new material on a new series called "Inglourious Basterds." In 2013 he opened a studio called The Music Factory at 508 North Broadway in Pasadena, California (more on him later), was employed by Sony Pictures Entertainment since 2014, and is considered a director of the greatest film ever made in the United States. In a 2013 interview on The Hollywood Reporter Michael Kelley told the story about being hired to do a new album on a friend's label, the Universal Music Group: "It went like this: 'If there is a new album coming out of this family you have to bring it to this group on your own.' " He stated he left because he felt his job was being done.
