Mass murderer Richard Benjamin Speck aka Born to Raise Hell is born in Kirkwood, Illinois, United States.
He was living at the time of his death on 5 August 1941. He was a convicted felon who committed two crimes: killing and raping an elderly woman with his own gun and a stolen car. He left prison on 20 February 1945 and became a serial killer in the United States. Benjamin Speck attended a state college in Pennsylvania and studied criminology. Prior to 1945, he was incarcerated at Lake County Prison but released his conviction. He served seven years of his imprisonment in prison until 1995. A short time later he was promoted to U.S Attorney for the Central District of Pennsylvania. He spent 10 years as a juvenile judge and five years as a state prosecutor before becoming U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Florida in 1995. He was arrested after stealing from a neighbor's home and later was sentenced to 36 years in prison. His case was dropped for lack of evidence in 1995 after the defense refused to use the defense of having sexual contact with Benjamin Speck. Benjamin Speck is survived by his wife and two daughters. Richard Speck killed himself before fleeing into the woods with 5 children. The last known sighting came on 8 November 2003. http://www.kirkwoodisland.com
