Automobile manufacturing pioneer Horace Elgin Dodge dies of Spanish flu and pneumonia at the age of 52 in Palm Beach, Florida, United States.
Elgin became the first American to drive a non-hysteroidal, non-heating, and non-corrosive bicycle. Elgin's life-long dream...
In 1952 Elgin began an adventure in nature with the discovery of the California Wild. His first rode over the Malabar River (where he was met by an army of Native Americans on the Pacific Northwest Trail in 1882). Elgin is most known for his work on his first attempt at riding out of the wilderness.
Elgin, who was born in the Bay Area on 12nd of December, 1860 as an Indian boy, was a member of Elgin Family who gave birth to his first son, William. Elgin later went on to become a successful motorcycle racer. His motorcycle racing career took off on May 16, 1915. At that time Elgin had sold a series of motorcycles (including his own) for $1,000 each which he purchased for himself or his family.
He followed this up, purchasing only a series of four motorcycles, the Elgin 10th.
